Transcript

Robert Reich: I could never find a girl to dance with me. So it was a sad moment for me.

Sophie Bearman: Is there a particular song that comes to mind?

Robert Reich: Absolutely. Thought you'd never ask.

Sophie Bearman: If you had to choose seven songs to help tell your life story, which ones would you choose?

Sarah Shourd: In the song, it says, ‘why not leave? Why not go away?’ We really just left and never looked back and started a new life in California.

Rahsaan ‘New York’ Thomas: I felt like the biggest loser in the world, like, I can't put her through this. It’s just really hard ‘cus I loved her. So to get the courage to break up with her, I would play that song. Dumbest thing in the world, but I did it.

Chesa Boudin: When the song talks about seeing the same sun, or stars, or moon…that was something we did all the time. My parents would call me from prison and say, ‘Hey, can you look out your window? Do you see the moon? I'm looking at the same moon right now.’

London Breed: I make the decisions. I call the shots. That should never be diminished because I'm not a man, I'm a woman. And I run this city, and I am one hundred percent that…next song.
